The Danube River is a main artery of the Austro/Hungarian Empire. The local guides at each port of call took us on coach and walking tours. Their personal as well as their academic knowledge of the local history brought the history and culture alive. Their courtesy went well with the ease and informality of our experience of each place. Furthermore, we were very well taken care of by the staff. From the time of our airport arrival to the day we disembarked, no step was left to chance. And from the cabin attendants to the waiters to the Captain, everyone seemed more than competent and very happy in their work. They made small yet thoughtful gestures to keep us feeling at ease, such as greeting us with cool drinks at the end of a day's tour, special birthday treats, and smiling, generous responses to any special request. The food was delicious, wholesome, and beautifully presented, complemented by good wines, the best German beer, and fresh fruit juices. We felt that we lived like royalty for a week.

Deluxe Stateroom with French Balcony

Well laid out and appointed. Considering the size, it was very easy to live in for a week. The "amenities" were generous and of good quality. Closet and drawer/storage space was adequate. We especially appreciated that there was room under the bed for our large suitcases. The shower was a bit of a tight fit, but well enough designed that it worked for us.
