Friends had raved about their trips with Viking so we took a cruise up the Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel. We were amazed by the attention to detail and the genuine enthusiasm of each member of the crew from Captain Schlee to our personal cabin steward and everyone in between. We tell the story of the afternoon when we cruised the Middle Rhine passed castles and The Loralei. It was threatening to rain and a bit cool when I mentioned that it would be nice to have a wool blanket and something hot to drink. No sooner had I spoke when up comes the crew with hot chocolate and cozy blankets! That is the kind of anticipation of our comfort we experienced each day along the Rhine. The shore excursions were well planned and superbly executed by local guides who all took pride in their tours.

We are returning this Spring to try an ocean cruise around Italy and can't wait to be pampered again!
