This cruise was my dream trip which was made possible as a retirement gift from my employer. From day one it did not disappoint. The cabin was nicely appointed and very comfortable. All of the excursions both included and optional met my expectations. The local guides were very informative and lots of fun; they made learning about the area enjoyable. The food aboard ship was outstanding. After a tour of the kitchen area, I don't know how such fine meals were produced in such a small space. Each night in the lounge we enjoyed games, entertainment and one night there was a glass blowing demonstration. I cannot say enough about the crew. They were all so accommodating, friendly and fun and I cannot say enough about our cabin steward, Novak---such a pleasant young man who kept our cabin in order in such a short amount of time. Viking made everything so easy, informative and enjoyable that I have booked a second cruise for fall of this year.

Cabin Review

Cabin Veranda Stateroom A

Well appointed and roomy even with twin beds. There was plenty of closet and drawer space. The bathroom was compact yet roomy enough to move around in.

Port Reviews

Melk

Loved seeing all of the vinyards with castles interspersed on the hillsides.

Regensburg

Regensburg was so picturesque with many of the buildings having flower boxes beneath their windows. Our local guide gave us good information about the persecution of the Jews in the area.

Nuremberg

This was a very interesting tour with a lot of history about Hitler and WWII. The town square and surrounding churches were beautiful with many of them having been gutted by bombs during the war.

Bamberg

This was a charming town with many half-timbered buildings. Our tour was on Sunday so many of the shops were closed. We did manage to find a chocolate shop open so took advantage and stocked up on sweets. It is amazing that this quaint village was not bombed during the war.

Wurzburg

Here we toured the Bishop's Residenz.which was unbelievable. Decorated with lots of roccoco & gold---amazing! After the tour we were on our own for lunch and more sightseeing. Our local guide was very good with a wonderful sense of humor.

Cologne

Very interesting and beautiful. So much opulence and ego.
