Overall this was a disappointing experience for us. The first few days on the cruise were excellent and up to our Viking expectations. This was followed by unacceptable situations: two days of no internet, no air conditioning, and toilet failure! We did not cruise the Middle Rhine on Viking Kara due to engine failure. Instead we waited for an hour, then bused to a substitute boat that was a crowded local day boat. Too noisy to permit our program director to give his narrative. Uncomfortable and poor visibility on this most scenic stretch of this trip. Because of the delay, we totally missed visiting Rudesheim. Our ship arrived there early evening. Viking offered to pay for our dinner by giving us 25 Euros voucher that could only be used on the ship. Very cheap and frankly insulting. We chose to return to the ship. It was a wasted day, hours on the bus.

Overall we did not experience what we has paid for. Last year we had a most wonderful Viking Cruise on the Danube. This is why we returned to Viking this year. Probably our last Viking cruise.
