Emerald was recommended by friends and it proved to be a great cruise. This was our first river cruise and it will not be our last. Our cabin was spacious and well appointed, and the cabin attendant could not have been more helpful. All the staff were very attentive and willing to go out of their way to accommodate requests. The kitchen staff prepared great food and the chef made a point of introducing his daily dinner recommendations. We liked the ability to choose different venues for breakfast and lunch, and open seating meant that one could meet and make many new friends on board. The cruise director was outstanding and made sure that everyone was well informed as to the availability of tours and special events. The tours were well organized with local guides who were very knowledgeable, and the programs were interesting. We enjoyed the overall pace of the cruise. Our only minor criticism was that the main dining room was noisy when full. Accoustic ceiling tiles could help.
