Friends organized the trip and invited me along. This was my first cruise and I can say it was a great one! Our primary goal was to get to Havana before it was no longer an option. My fellow cruise mates were experienced cruisers and they were all satisfied, too. We did not travel with children though I did see many families. They all looked happy and there was plenty for all of us, child and adult alike, to do! I found that the process of getting on and off the ship was fast and easy, even pleasant. The crew were always well informed at all times. They knew about everything going on onboard and were always able to answer questions. It was the first time in my life no one said no to me in four straight days! Every crew member had a smile and a willingness to assist which I felt was genuine. The ship was clean and gleaming, they were proud of their work! And they should be. The first thing we did when we went on board was a safety course. Great idea! I felt confident that if anything happened I knew what to do. The cabin was clean and comfortable and well maintained by a doting housekeeper. The daily agenda which was left in the room was very informative. The food was very good in all dining rooms and food was available all day, every day, and it was easy to find. There were so many activities that I found it tough to decide what to do. I enjoyed the evening entertainment. I live in NYC and go to Broadway shows often. I felt the dancers and singers were all top notch! My friends and I made all of our own plans in Tampa and in Key West and Havana, but we were pleased to know that shore excursions were available through the ship. I only wished we could have stayed a week in Havana! It was so beautiful. I felt very well informed throughout the cruise, and what few questions I had were easily answered. All of my needs had been anticipated. The crew was really the shining gem for me, they were all so sweet and enthusiastic. The ship appeared to me to be a well oiled machine. Things were well organized and flowed smoothly. Everyone knew what to do and as a result, they were able to keep us all organized and entertained with a minimum of hassle. In all, this was a great experience! Everyone in my group had a great time and it was a great first cruise for me. Thank you RC Empress of the Seas! (I have not figured out how to add photos yet... but I took too many to put on here anyway. It was all gorgeous!).

Cabin Review

Cabin Interior

The cabin was well designed, it was a comfortable small space. This was a four day cruise and we had more than enough room to unpack all of our belongings and stow our suitcases. The cabin and bathroom were very clean upon arrival. As we boarded the ship we were greeted by Bala, our housekeeper, and he was very attentive to us each day, always greeting us with a smile. We had lovely towel critters to come home to after each day, too! Our room was made up daily, fresh towels replaced our wet ones, and the floor was vacuumed. I found the air int he cabin was never stale or musty, it was always comfortable.

Port Reviews

Tampa

I love Tampa and have vacationed here many times in the past. My friends and I flew in from NY and TX a day early so that we could enjoy dinner with local friends and have plenty of time to get to the ship in the morning.

Key West

I love diving and snorkeling so one of my cruisemates let me tag along on a diving excursion. I saw so many wonderful fish! I saw my favorite creature... a sea turtle, too! I was overjoyed to be out in the water and seeing the only reef in the continental US.

Havana

My friends and I had arranged to get to Varadaro beach by classic convertible car. It was amazing to see the countryside in Cuba in addition to the city. The beach was sublime. Once back in Havana we had a chance to walk around the city and to load up on cigars. It was an enchanting place. The locals are so friendly and pleased to have us there. I consider this an introductory trip and hope to find a way to go back for a longer and more immersive visit.
