Viking Hild Review

The cruise was really nice, but the beginning & end left something to be desired.

We went with another couple who had been on a river cruise before. This was our first river cruise although many ocean cruises. The staff from the captain to the room stewards were helpful, friendly and went out of their way to make you happy. My wife was not thrilled with the food at dinner (the taste of the spices used for cooking and sauces). I thought the food was very good. Entertainment is very simple. Local music in some ports and a full time piano player who was excellent. Breakfasts and lunch were very good with plenty of options. Local guides were used at each port and were knowledgeable and articulate. Excursions usually lasted a couple of hours. A lot of cobblestone streets. Some ports required considerable walking, sometimes on rock paths along the levee with stairs to get to street level.

Overall the cruise was very enjoyable. I was expecting a little more time on the river, but not disappointed. The ship is very clean and easy to navigate. The cabins are a little small, but they were what I expected.

We left the USA early to spent a week in Switzerland. Because of that we had to pay $100 each for "air deviation". When we tried to find out how to get from the airport in Zurich to the hotel (our invoice stated transfers included) we were advised that because of air deviation, transfers were not included and they forgot to tell us.

Cabin Review

Cabin Balcony

The cabin was a little small by cruise ship standards, but not cramped. The bet was comfortable and large, bottled water every day, ice machine close and ample bathroom amenities.
