The food was always excellent in the MDR. Service was good. I had no bad food and neither did my husband. Portion sizes were perfect. Embarking and disembarking was always quick and smooth. When we came in from the rain in Juneau they even greeted guests with hot cocoa.

I found the ship lacking in entertainment during the day. I don't need to learn how to use windows or digital photography etc. Watching someone cook at America's Test Kitchen only sucked me in one time. The crows nest and Explorations cafe are a wonderful spot to watch the world go by. The only meal I wasn't as impressed by was at the specialty dining room Canaletto. The food was OK but not anything extraordinary. The dinner at Pinnacle was outstanding. We chose to do that when the ship was in Victoria instead of trying to do something with a short stay.

We bought all of our shore excursions through the ship. The salmon bake (Juneau) was very tasty but I would not recommend it for anyone who has physical difficulty. It is all self serve. I had to run like a chicken with its head cut off to carry for myself and my husband as it is hard to carry plates when you use a cane and are unsteady on your feet. It was pouring rain and cold. It's all outside. You're under a shelter but we were still frozen. Panning for gold was as enjoyable as it could be in the rain.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Cabin VH

The cabin itself was nice enough as far as space goes. Enough storage. It had definitely not been cleaned well. I asked for an extension cord for CPAP machines and the housekeeping staff ran it across the room which was a major trip hazard. When I ran it around the room myself and looked under the bed to run it there, it was obvious that this area had not been vacuumed in a very long time. There was even someone's pill under the bed. Behind the balcony curtain there was a bottle of spray left from a previous guest. The curtains were dry rotted on back. The balcony light didn't work. The balcony had a solid metal rail (not plexiglass) so sitting on deck you couldn't see down but could still enjoy the beautiful scenery. I knew this when purchasing so I'm not complaining. The steward was friendly but they seemed more overworked than they did on the my previous cruise on Royal Caribbean. For one whole day while in port we had a horrid paint smell in our room. It was nice to be at the end of the hall though because in Juneau and Victoria we got to watch the docking action right below us. For any balcony cabin, be warned that in rough water the deck furniture makes a terrible racket! One night we were ready to bring it in the room but then it calmed down. Other than that, it was very quiet. The bed was comfortable. We had to really watch in the bathroom because it could flood easily if the shower curtain moved. Also, after the steward cleaned there was often a flooded spot behind the toilet.
