We have cruised on many RCL ships over the years and usually love our cruises. Although they are not known for their food, they are leaders in the fields of entertainment, activities, ships and accommodations in addition to friendly staff.
However, the food being served on their ships is not very good. The quality is quite poor from the food served in their main dining room to some of their other locations on the ship. Poor cuts of meat, tiny shrimp cocktails with half cooked small shrimp, soups that are so full of salt that they can't be eaten and an assortment of dishes in Windjammer meant to please all the nationalities of the world, but none don't right.
By raising the cost of their specialty restaurants from $25 per person to $50 per person they have made it so much more expensive then dining at a quality restaurant on shore. Remember, this is the upcharge you pay from what a dinner in their dining room would cost to the specialty restaurants. Think about this...a plate of scallops at a cost of $50...on a cruise ship, really!!!
Cabin is small but fine if you just want a good nights sleep (beds are wonderful). Cabin is a bit tight and not enough room to put your large luggage in a closet or under the bed. Nice TV, small refrigerator and bathroom is fine, but for larger guests as is the case on most ships taking a shower can be a challenge.
