We have always enjoyed reading reviews on here but never got as far as submitting one ourselves, although having read so much off putting negativity re MSC we felt moved to write one this time!

To establish a bit of cred re previous cruising experiences, we’ve previously done 30 previous cruises on RCI (by far our favourite) but also Celebrity, Azamara, P&O and NCL. We are not hugely demanding guests but we know what we expect from our cruise vacation and do not tolerate poor performance.

It’s important is to be clear who MSC are competing with – they are not a 5 star or 6 star line so comparisons re service and dining with Celebrity, Azamara, Cunard etc. are simply wastes of time as MSC are not seeking to be competitors for them and accordingly are charging much (much) lower fares as a result. The correct comparison bases in our view are RCL, P&O and NCL – essentially the middle ground quality ‘4 star’ cruise lines with big family orientated ships and associated mass market high passenger volume ship offerings.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B1

Nicely decorated and appointed. Kept very clean and tidy (by us and steward). Bit cramped for a longer cruise and missed not having a sofa in the room. But generally nice and comfy for the limited length of time spent in the cabin.
