I just returned home to Canada after taking my trip with carnival. Before Irma hit we were supposed to go to Nassau, Half moon Cay, Grand Turk & Amber Cove, but due to Irma we were switched to Cozumel, Honduras & Belize. Even though a lot of people were disappointed it was a fantastic time. The ship was clean and always A LOT to do, the staff was incredible as well. Due to Irma hitting Fort Lauderdale the weekend we were set to come home (September 9th) we had to stay out at sea away from the storm until Tuesday afternoon when we docked. The crew kept us completely in the loop with all the updates regarding our position and any information on the storm, and kept us calm and having a fantastic time on the ship. They also made WIFI & in cabin calling free for the duration of the cruise. When we ported back into fort lauderdale finally on tuesday they understood not everyone would get a flight out and instead of dumping us off to fend for ourselves and sleep in a hotel they allowed us to sleep on the cruise free of charge up until Thursday morning (today) if need be. This was only my second cruise and probably my last in Hurricane season, but it most definitely will not be my last with Carnival. Food on the ship was fantastic, there was something for everyone, the pools were great, and the cruise Director MarQ did an amazing job!
