We traveled with long time friends so weren't looking to be entertained. But we were anyway. Toby, aging 70's rocker was funny and could play covers well. The comedian was great - clean too. Not a fan of the buffet, only ate there for breakfast. We were able to find a peaceful and quiet spot to eat on the aft deck every morning. Made breakfast much more enjoyable than the food frenzy inside. Other restaurants were good, service is top notch. We never had to wait for a table. Our cabin was interior, well appointed and compact, wish we could have popped for a balcony but at the end of the day you're still in Hawaii. The ship is Pride of American so the public space is sort of fake Williamsburg, a little cheesy but in a tasteful way! Embarkation the first day was slow, lots of people to process and of course you have to get a photo taken. No leis though
Did 3 excursions; Volcano National Park a don't miss, it's fantastic; Historic Kona, should have skipped this, Kona is a cute beach town with a nice beach, after the tour we took an outrigger out with Eden from Kona Boys rentals. Just what you think of when picturing Hawaii. Do this you won't regret it. Kona Boys are right on the beach. The final tour was Wailua River Cruise. It was sweet with Hawaiian music and dancers, once on board we realized we could have done the same thing in kayaks on our own.
You can't beat the service on NCL, they bend over backwards to keep you happy but not in a toady way. Lucia was our cabin attendant; friendly, efficient and quick with a laugh.
Compact, but plenty of storage space for two people. Lucia kept it clean and well stocked
