Carnival tried but just couldn’t quite pull it off. Transport from LGA was on time but the driver was not used to driving in NYC. It took an hour and a half to get to the port. The cabin was ready and almost clean. Notified in advance, Carnival dining service failed to take notice of my food allergy and every meal was an exercise in finding food. The Hop-on/Hop-off excursions were an exhausting time of breathing bus fumes or waiting. The guide in Portland was delightful. The St. John and Halifax guides sounded tired. The Kennebunkport tour was fun. The “art auction” is not really an auction but rather a fast and loud sale. The casino was smoke filled. Disembarkation is where true misery resides. Regardless of advance reservation for a wheelchair, we waited for two hours while loud obnoxious people got chairs and nice people did not. Finally, after most people had gone off the ship, we were helped into (more bus fumes) and a mad dash to the airport -- total time from 8:30am-2:00pm. We were minutes away from missing our flight. Some others missed theirs entirely. I will never do another Carnival cruise.
