This was my 5th cruise and my 4th with Carnival. We booked Carnival due to the sailing date. I almost cancelled it after reading so many awful reviews on here. I am SO HAPPY that we decided to go. We had a 4K cabin (4130) and it was perfect for the 3 of us. Plenty of room/storage and very comfortable bed and pillows. Our cabin steward came twice daily (per our request) and our room was always spotless. The food was very good...not 5 star, but still delicious. We never had a meal that we didn't like. We had anytime dining, and never had to wait for a table. The buffet didn't change that much from day to day, but I still had a different breakfast and lunch each day because you can't possibly eat all they have to offer in one day. My 11 year old loved the ice cream 24/7. We enjoyed the comedy shows (we only went to family shows) and the theater shows were enjoyable by all 3 of us. We didn't go into the bars/lounges. The pools and waterslides were OPEN the whole trip, which was a very pleasant surprise!! One of the pools has a glass roof, so its warm(ish) in there. Kids as well as adults used the pool daily. There weren't nearly as many kids as I've seen on other cruises, and they were all well behaved and respectful. My son did not use the kids club, but met other boys his age with whom he hung out for much of the trip. It was his first cruise and he LOVED it. He keeps asking me to book another one. The stops were great, although Victoria was a waste of time. I highly recommend booking a helicopter glacier tour in Juneau with Coastal Helicopters. We also did the 4x4 Takshanuk Mountain tour in Skagway, which was great.

I want to mention that the service was above and beyond on this trip. While in Victoria, my husband slipped and suffered a severe leg injury (NOT ON THE SHIP). We got a cab back to the ship and guest services sent someone immediately with a wheelchair to bring him back on board. They also provided wheelchair service in the morning so that he could disembark. They were very helpful throughout the whole ordeal.

Overall, if you keep your expectations reasonable, you will not be disappointed. Don't expect a 5 star experience, but do expect excellent service, decent food, enjoyable entertainment, and beautiful scenery. I learned from reading these reviews that some people just cannot be pleased. How can someone NOT enjoy a cruise to Alaska?? Go for it and have a great time- you'll be glad you did!

Cabin Review

Interior with French Door (obstructed views)

Cabin 4K

Large, bright, and extremely clean. Easy to get to stairs/elevator. Very quiet, never heard any of our neighbors or people above or below. Excellent water pressure in the shower! No view due to the lifeboat, but the sunlight coming in was wonderful and it was nice to open the door and stick your arm out to feel the outside temperature.

Port Reviews

Victoria

Dark, and the port was nowhere near the town. It was unsafe walking around in the pitch black. My husband fell and was seriously injured while we were there (This was NOT anyone's fault, it was an accident...but still, it was SO dark and very hard to see while we were walking around). Don't bother getting off the ship.
