A 5 day cruise round trip from Yokohama turned into a 6 day cruise with a 48 hour instead of the planned 6 hour stop over in Busan South Korea. This was due to Typhoon Talem. But we couldnt have been happier or more well looked after.
We boarded in great weather, and were very excited as a week before we have been emailed that we had been upgraded from our balcony room to a club class minisuite. End of Day 1 we were informed by the captain of the weather issues due to the typhoon and how we needed to remain in Busan port - and throughout the next 2 days we were kept up to date at all times. This did require changing of flights due to arrivng a day late, and while an inconvenience and added expense (that we claimed from travel insurance), it was so comforting to know the captain had our safety and comfort as a priorty vs keeping to schedule.
This is my 4th cruise and the Diamond Princess is by far the best ship and cruise I have been on. We could not fault the staff or the food, the entertainment was very well planned, given the Japanese/non-Japanese passenger mix, they way the staff mananged this bilingually was very professional and seamless. Em/disbarkation was well organised. Our mini suite was excellent and we just loved the extra space and balcony room. We are already planning our next cruise.
Bigger than my first student flat!.
Bathroom had a bath, room had full 3 seater couch and balcony big enough to seat 8 people. Space is just excellent.
