This was the 48th state we have visited. and we figured that this was the best way to experience. Hawaii. We have sailed three times before with NCL and our experiences have been excellent.
The stateroom with balcony was very good. The cabin staff fair. The food in the specialty restaurants is very good and the price is right. The service staff well trained and experienced, but not as good as the staff on other non-US based ships. The breakfast buffet was very good in the Aloha cafe. We did not have any other meals buffet style, but a walk trough gave the impression of "nothing special.
The shore excursions are a good way to experience the sights of the islands. With a few exceptions the excursion guides were very good. Don't miss the excursion the lava fields. You need to be able to walk at least 5 miles in hot and humid weather, and walk on very uneven surface for about 1 mile. You need to bring lots of water. Which goes for all excursions.
