It was a last minute booking and not what we had initially set out to book but was excellent. The staff were really good, friendly and attentive. The cruise director Christine was incredibly knowledgeable and keen to make sure everyone got the best from their trip. The organisation was faultless and shore guides so informative - they had excellent English, their own individual style and were just superb.
The food on board is plentiful - buffet breakfast and lunch and then 4-course dinner - usually with regional specialities. The wine served at meals was of a high standard. There is also the opportunity for 16 guests each evening to try a bistro dinner served in the front of the lounge so you can maximise your river viewing. The menu is a taster menu, geared around fine dining bites so quite different from the main dining room.
Afternoon tea and cake was a nice touch - even though the calories were not needed!
We had a cabin with windows rather than a balcony as we left it very late to book. For the Rhine cruise in autumn this was not an issue but a balcony would be lovely for the summer. Cabin had all you needed, good bathroom, kept spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds and nice bedding too.
