The trip from Budapest to Amsterdam was extraordinary for the cultural richness of the places visited, the beautiful, comfortable ship and the highest level of service. The whole ship was chartered by AHI Travel. There were 50 crew looking after 120 passengers. The food alone was worth the price of admission. Our chef produced works of art worthy of a Michelin star. There was a printed menu for lunch and dinner. Just a sample: honey and peppercorn glazed quail with pumpkin puree, pearl vegetables and a balsamic sour cherry reduction. For dessert: a rich German chocolate bombe with marzipan and mandarin sauce. Delicious! Quiche Lorraine with ham, goat cheese and fresh asparagus; oven roasted pumpkin cream soup with ginger and honey; veal roulade with bread dumplings, sautéed asparagus and mushroom cream sauce. For dessert: Viennese Check Mate - a buttered sponge cake with strawberry mousse and passion fruit jelly. Wonderful. A quiche-like Franconian onion and bacon cake; oven roasted tomato cream soup; barbecued glazed North Atlantic salmon with polenta spring rolls, Asian cucumber salad and sweet chili sauce. For dessert: Dornfelder poached pear filled with creamy Ricotta and topped with crushed pistachio. Mouth watering. Another amazing dinner was beef carpaccio with shaved Parmesan, micro greens, capers and balsamic reduction. I really liked the Ossobucco with creamy Parmesan risotto, lemon herb gremolata and shallot red wine au jus. Dessert was a duo of chocolate mousse with wild berry ragout. Those were just a few dinners. And then there were the lunches. The size of the servings was kept moderate so I could enjoy eating it all without worry. The crew looked after ever need. I have never been so pampered in my life. I particularly liked the bicycles to explore Vienna, Nuremburg, Cologne and lots of other stops. There were guided excursions at every stop. There were historical lectures by experts and by the charming director Lorelay, waltz lessons, strudel making lessons, a bicycle excursion along the vineyards. I took advantage of the exercise room, enjoyed a Fruhschopper on the sundeck and simply relaxed and watched the castles go by on the scenic stretch of the Rhine. The two captains did a great job day and night guiding us through the 68 locks between Budapest and Amsterdam. The ship seemed to brand new. It was kept in immaculate condition. This must be one of the finest and one of the culturally richest of cruises one could take anywhere in the world.

Cabin Strauss

Well appointed with wonderful electric window which descended to give a wide open view of the passing shore. Spacious shower. Very comfortable.
