Having been on 3 Viking River Cruises and one other Viking Ocean Cruise, we had high expectations for the ship, service and excursions and were not disappointed. We arrived in Montreal in the evening, the first day of the cruise and everything went very smoothly at the airport as there were numerous Viking reps there to check us in and lead us to the bus that took us to the ship. The embarkation process was very short, maybe 10 minutes at the most, as we then walked on the ship and went to our cabin where our luggage arrived not long after.

Our cabin was a Deluxe Veranda, which was a nice size with all the amenities. There is a coffee maker in the room although we only used it once. The mini bar was supplied with soft drinks and a few snacks, replenished daily. I especially enjoyed the lighted makeup mirror that lifts open from the desk. There aren't many drawers and the closet is in an awkward place, next to one side of the bed. But we managed fine. Every cabin on the Viking Sky has a balcony so we enjoyed that every day.

We ate most of our meals in the World Cafe where the selection was excellent and, most of the time, we could determine our portions. There were plenty of waiters to fill drinks and get any needed items. We ate in The Restaurant once, The Chef's Table once and Manfredi's twice. Each time the food was delicious and plentiful. My only "complaint" with The Restaurant and Manfredi's is that the meat portions were much larger than what I would ordinarily eat and would appreciate the option of choosing a smaller portion. Service at all eating venues was great.
