I have mixed feeling about this cruise. This is my first Cruise with NCL.

Apart from Astoria, most of the ports were interesting, and for this time of the year we were very lucky with the weather for all ports except Juneau.

The passengers on board were a good mix from a variety of countries and cultures, and very few children.

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

This was our first Balcony room. We were very happy with the size of the room and the amount of storage offered, the only place we felt cramped was the shower compared with newer vessels I have been on.

The couch in our room has coffee cups and other stains that have not been cleaned, and remained the entire cruise.

The rail for the shower curtain has some hooks stuck so the curtain cannot be pulled fully closed. This means that the curtain bunches in the middle making an already small and claustrophobic shower even more uncomfortable with the shower curtain always rubbing on you.

The towels are quite thick but small. Sheets and towels often have Stains or tears. Judging by the stained sheet we had for the 2nd half, I believe the sheets were only changed once on a 10 day cruise.

We were provided a bar of soap at the beginning of the cruise, but even when used up it was not replaced by the room attendant.

The room thermostat provided no function at all. turning it to the hottest or coldest and leaving it for a few hours made no difference to the room temperatures. Speaking with other balcony room passengers they have found the same thing. Speaking with the Chief Engineer on the last sea day, he was not aware of any problems with the thermostats. In general we found the room was too hot, so we always had the balcony door open even at night.

The last few days the bathroom light flickered, but was not changed.

Port Reviews

Juneau

Self drive to Mendenhall Glacier and Douglas Island

Skagway

Self drive to Whitehorse for lunch. Spectacular scenery.

Glacier Bay

Being the last cruise of the season, we were able to get relatively close to the glaciers as there was not much large ice in the water.

Victoria

Mostly a pretty town, saw a lot on foot.
