We wanted a river cruise for the relaxing and interesting experience. The Viking cruise on the Elbe River did meet our expectations as to interesting ports and a relaxing cruise. However although the quality of the ship, the Cruise director and ship service staff were wonderful, the cruise did not meet our expectations on a couple of issues. The entertainment on ship was not the best. We had two classical concerts that although technically excellent were quite boring. There was not enough variation and the music tended to be very low key. We also had a talk from an individual on the Russian occupations that was very poor and tedious. You should reevaluate on ship entertainment. The Folkloric Dance and Dinner outing was excellent and provided a good example of local talent and culture.
Wine provided at meals was good but pretty much did not change. Drinking the same wine choices (white and red) every day was poorly designed and appeared to be a cost saver for Viking. You should offer better wines and more choices. Food was generally very good but there was one meal that I found at best mediocre. That was the German night. It was a buffet and I for one did not get a serving that was edible although I tried twice.
Very clean and well maintained. Roomy and cheerful. As normal the bathroom was cramped but that was to be expected.
