I have been a loyal customer of MSC and I have always held them in high regard and after our RCL cruise last year could not wait to get back to 7 course dinners , free in cabin movies, room made up quickly, leisurely breakfasts. Boy was I in for a shock in the two years since being on the MSC Opera things had changed . No 7 course evening meal but a quick 3 course meal, luke warm food in the buffet, room sometimes not made up until after lunch, no more free movies. So it was a disappointment not to have the same level of service. This is not down to poor staff but poorly managed staff, I don't think the steward ever went to bed or ate as at any time during the day or evening he was either in a cabin or in the corridor cleaning,

Its not all bad a luxurious cabin, plenty of bars to sit in unlike the Navigator of the seas, staff in the Red Velvet restaurant were very attentive and quick. We were on the allegisimo package which worked for us, for instance two double baileys would set you back 21.60 euros plus 15% service charge.

It maybe down to a large ship as we are going on the MSC Musica next year and will see how it goes but word is cutbacks are happening on all shipping lines so its all about finding the best deal.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B1

Cabin was excellent no problems there . Loads of storage space a good shower, a nice size

Port Reviews

Casablanca

The tour guide took us to a dump of a market, it was hard to not throw up. King Hassan Mosque was impressive . Rest of the tour was to the seaside resort where you get ripped off. £5 for two scoops of ice cream. Then some more boring places not very good at all.

Barcelona

Ripped off by MSC shuttle bus . Just 3 mins for £9 and no where near the city. Riots in Barcelona in the afternoon and MSC should infrom you in advance to book tickets for the Cathedral. Spent an hour walking there to be told there was a waiting time of 4 hours plus.

Madeira (Funchal)

Having been there the year before on a trip we decided to do it again ourselves by doing the tobbogan as when there are no thers around you get to experience the real speed of these tobbogans. Went up in the cable car and walked down afterwards. A great day in Maderia.

Malaga

Again back in Spain where they do not like to start work before 10 am so as this was a fleeting visit not much open and not alot to see. But at least the shuttle bus took you further and cost less than Barcelona.
