We chose this cruise for the excellent ports that it visited...Barcelona, Naples, Civitavecchia, Marseilles, Nice, and LeSpezia. The rooms were nice although we were expecting a pull-out couch for our adult daughter rather than the very uncomfortable trundle pull down bed with a thin and hard mattress. Overall, the food in the dining room was very good. One night, the prime rib and fish were awful but the rest of cruise it was very good. The waiters in the dining room were great. We did enjoy breakfast in the Windjammer, although it was always a challenge to find a table. The staff were helpful with that. Ate lunch on the ship only one day at sea and it was plentiful and tasty. I would have liked to see nicer deserts in the Windjammer in the evening. We would go there after the show for a coffee and desert before bedtime and the deserts were not very special as we've experienced on other ships. We only took one shore excursion with the ship, which we had purchased two months before. I was disappointed when they lowered the price and we were on a bus loaded with cruisers. Our other excursions were with private companies. They were excellent...smaller groups and great tour guides.
Clean room. Did not like the trundle bed. Expected pull-out couch.
Nice walk around the city
Best day out and we were on our own. Purchased 16 euro Cinque Terre train passes at the port. Good for unlimited rides, free wifi, hiking trails and station bathrooms without paying extra. Took a 15 euro taxi to train station. Stopped and walked at Riomaggiore, then Manarola. After taking train to Corniglia station, walked up 385 steps to town, had a great lunch and then gelato at Albertos. Hiked 1.75 miles to Vernazza. Beautiful views and great weather the whole 90 minutes. This walk is not flat and bring plenty of water and snacks. Walked around Vernazza then train and taxi back to ship.
