We chose this trip because of the itinerary. We have always wanted to see Poland so this seemed like the perfect way to do it. We flew into Berlin and were met by the very attentive Viking representatives. We were taken to the beautiful Berlin Hilton and met there by the very, very wonderful Daniella, the cruise director, who was with us until we left Prague. We spent 3 nights in Berlin, enjoying this vibrant city, then were taken by a lovely motor coach to Wittenberg where we boarded our boat. The five nights on the river were wonderful! The boat was beautiful, the staff very, very attentive, the food to die for and the programs delightful. Every effort was made to see that we had an outstanding trip. We then spent 3 nights in beautiful Prague. The shore excursions in all cities were outstanding and a great value. Daniella left us on the morning that we left for Krakow. Her place was filled by Adrian who was our director until we left for home. Adrian was attentive, knowledgable and respectful of our elderly travel companions who were having some difficulty managing the level of activities on some of the the shore excursions. We enjoyed beautiful Krakow and then traveled to wonderful Warsaw. Both of these cities were amazing!!!
The only trouble that we had was in Warsaw at the Sofitel Warsaw Victoria. It was 104 degrees in Warsaw and the hotel's air conditioning had for the most part shut down. It was pretty miserable and there didn't seem to be much concern by the hotel management. All four hotels were definitely luxury hotels with better than average to excellent dining options. It was just this one problem with the AC in Warsaw.
Four hotels, one riverboat, multiple motor coach trips, multiple transfers in 16 days and everything went seamlessly. Viking took care of every detail seeing that luggage and transfers and all shore excursions were flawless.
Beautiful, clean, lovely amenities
We had a wonderful tour guide during our tour of Wittenberg. I was especially interested in this town because of the Anniversary of the Reformation. I could have spent more time there....it was very hurried which left no time for looking around on our own or shopping.
