I wanted to go somewhere different than where I have sailed before. Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Irma, two of the four ports were changed to where I had been before. (I am not complaining because the people in San Juan and St Thomas have much loss and despair which doesn't even compare to me getting different ports instead) This was my third cruise and I'd been on smaller ships previously. Carnival Magic is magic! The size of the ship was amazing as well, as the excellent service and food. I did not have enough time on a 7 day cruise to explore and take advantage of everything there is available. The cruise ended yesterday and it was a rude awakening this morning to have to make my own coffee and breakfast. I had an interior stateroom that I called my girl cave. It was quiet and clean. The bed was soooooo comfortable. I loved the food in the dining room, Guy's Burgers and Tandoor (I never made it to the other eating places!) and my coffee from the coffee bar, The Alchemy bar was an adventure but my favorite bar was the Red Frog Pub. I loved Patrick at the Piano Bar. I loved the Chef's Table!!
The only excursion I went on was a private beach house run by an awesome lady who refers to herself as "Mama". It was a 20 minute bus ride to an incredible beach in Puerto Plata (Amber Cove). We were fed a lunch of local fare and it also, included drinks, water toys, loungers and umbrellas. I wish I could post the video of the bus ride back. The driver was hilarious and we were singing and dancing in our seats all the way back to the port.
I went solo on this cruise to Amber Cove, Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau. Don't ever be afraid to travel alone. People are so nice and friendly onboard from the crew to other guests. It was a great experience for me.I will sail on her again.
Requested to have a king size bed. It was so comfortable. The room was clean and kept that way. I had a great steward, Arvin.
Had conch fritters and a tropical drink at The Whale before it started raining. Grand Turk has amazing blue water.
What's a trip to Nassau without a trip to Sharkeez for some Sands beer, coconut curry conch chowder and conch fritters out on the balcony? I went shopping for some rum vanilla extract which I had used the last of at home before my cruise, also.
