I was part of a group celebrating my sister's 60th birthday and had planned this cruise over 1 year in advance. I was expecting so much from Norwegian Cruise Line, but I was very highly DISAPPOINTED. We did not explore our departure city until we returned, and that part of our trip was great! Embarkation had a few glitches with the computer system during members' of our party's check in. The ship was easy to navigate locations once on the ship.
CABIN: Our cabin was a fair enough size for 3 people, but would have been crowded for 4. Our room steward, Antonio, was awesome. He was very attentive to our needs and even checked in on us when we were not going ashore.
DINING: I was most disappointed with our dining experience. For the "attire expectation" of the Liberty Dining Room, I was disappointed with most of the staff service and food. Most of the food needed more flavoring and seemed to have a gravy over everything to cover up the blandness. I ordered "Poached Fruit" and received what looked like an opened can of fruit cocktail! Nothing tasted fresh, but instead tasted as if it came out of a frozen package! On two occasions, our French onion soup was cold and had to be sent back for re-warming. Usually, on cruises, I tend to be more adventurous and order different foods, that was not the case on this cruise. I was afraid of what I might end up getting. The service was lacking as well. Again, for the guest attire expectation, I expected the service to live up to the expectation of guests. I received better more attentive service in the Skyline Dining Room than I did in the Liberty Dining Room. It almost felt as if the service in the Liberty was so bad so that guests would chose to purchase meals from the specialty restaurants.
Our room steward, Antonio, was very attentive. He kept our room well stocked and ready for our use. He was very accommodating when one of us stayed behind and did not go ashore. The room was a perfect size for 2, decent for 3, but would have definitely been crowded for 4.
