We were hoping that RCI would go to some different ports after the hurricane. However having said that it kind of gave me a good feeling that we were helping the islands’ recovery in a little way. The excursions were limited because of the damage to the beaches. There was only one beach open on St. Marteen and we could see a lot of damage driving to the beach. Orient beach was closed and the beach we went to was packed solid with cruisers. The sand was very rocky getting into the water because of the storm. Puerto Rico was same story. The rain forest was closed we were told by our driver. We went to the Vivo Beach Club. The beach chairs were practically in the water, very crowded with other cruise ships in port and only beach. People at both ports were very friendly and happy that tourist were coming back. Had a bad storm when we reached Laberdi and didn’t get off the ship.

The ship was great, food was the best so far of all the RCI. Entertainment was good, didn’t understand the Columbus musical. Diving show was cancelled.

Had a few mishaps. I had signed up for the chef’s table, supposedly pu on at Chops. We were told it would be in the Solarium the night we were having dinner. The put down some curtains to isolate our group of 8 while a birthday party was going on next door, very noisy. Felt like we were in a tent. The food and wine were very good but the setting was very poor.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D6

Room was clean and attendant did a good job keeping it clean. The weird thing is that the attendant never introduced himself to us during the trip. I had to track him down on the second day to get his name. He was friendly in the hallway when we would pass him.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Took water taxi, very interesting to see yachts.
