A cruise is a cruise is a cruise. But there’s something special about pulling out of your driveway at 10:45 AM and being in your cabin by 1:15 PM. No TSA lines or fighting for a space for your rollaboard in the overhead luggage bins. Just drive 75 minutes, hand your bags to the nice people at the pier, pay for parking, and drive a few feet to one of many open spaces close to the ship and terminal building. Some of our friends don’t understand why we prefer cruising from Baltimore instead of flying to the warmth of Florida or San Juan, but the pleasure of having our vacation start two hours after leaving home more than compensates for the delay in getting to warm weather. Those who have sailed from northern ports know how lovely those empty sea days are when you’re decompressing from work and other life stresses.
Mid-ship starboard cabin - one of the JS category that does NOT have a pole. This cabin is right off the mid-ship staircase lobby and just far enough from the Centrum that it's quiet.
Only a few months after the hurricane wiped out much of the island, the shops are open and Magens Bay is open and lovely as always.
