My husband and I have agreed that we will not do another Norwegian cruise. We picked this cruise because of the itinerary and because the boat was newish, We didn’t spend the money on the Haven experience so I don’t know whether it was worth the money/ whether service would have been better.
Pros
Boat is newish. Lots of restaurants and bars. Some nice common areas. Gym is pretty good. The spinning classes are in a small room, but are very good with heart rate monitors and cycling shoes available. Some kind of system called “Ryde” where you can put in your name and see how you are doing as you work out. Quite liked it. Quite a few classes. Food was fine, not great but not as good as Princess or Viking. Husband thinks it is better than I would rate it. Really enjoyed the Tropicana dining room (no extra charge) with live band at some times. The service in this dining room was very good to very poor depending on the night and the server. Great itinerary.
The room was billed as a mini-suite but is small - the same size as a regular room on some ships.. Deck is minuscule. Room is well designed with lots of clever storage space. There isn’t really very much room for a suitcase, you have to unpack completely and put underneath the bed. Bathroom is very good for a cruise ship. Shower stall larger than usual. Lots of storage in the bathroom. Lighting is good. Bed was comfortable.
Miami is terrific city. The Art Deco architecture in South Beach is wonderful. Ocean Drive is great for people watching. Lots to do in Miami.
Went snorkelling off the beach on our own in Sandy Bay which was spectacular. It was the best snorkelling of the vacation. Fish variety was exceptional and the reef is close to the surface. Booked a $50 return trip to go to the restaurant at the Tranquilseas Eco Lodge where we met up with friends who were staying near there. Had a very good lunch at the Tranquilseas restaurant, the Sunken Fish, right on the beach.
Enjoyed the stop here. Lots of beach loungers. Did stand up paddle boarding and the zip-lining for $89 which included four connected lines.
