We've cruised on all three ships in this class on their maiden voyages. While we had an excellent cruise, the Majestic fell short of our expectations given our experiences on the Royal and Regal although the cruising portion went very smoothly.

We chose this voyage based upon the destination ports of call and the offered excursions through Princess and our expectation that as a sister ship it would be a continuation of our previous experiences. It was not.

Pre-voyage we booked into the Hotel Hesperia Presidente through Princess, and booked air accommodations through Princess EZ aire. While the Presidente is a little more pricey, its in a great part of Barcelona, includes breakfast and has excellent rooms and excellent staffing.

Cabin Review

Cabin Mid aft balcony

Nicely appointed, extremely clean - good sized balcony and view. However, for the extra money spent for this room, we weren't in it long enough to really enjoy it. There were no spectacular sunrises or sunsets.

It also meant very long walks to all the activities and dining - so will not likely book this type of cabin in the future.

We're ok with a balcony on an Alaska cruise, where you can expect to see whales or awesome views, but an unnecessary expense if your cruise is mostly doing extensive excursions. We so exhausted ourselves during our excursions we were glad to get back and just rest up for the next day.

Port Reviews

Cartagena (Spain)

Good points and not so good. First off, City bus tour booked through cruise line took us a square trip around the city limits, bringing us right back to our starting point within a half-hour. A waste of money. Had second tour booked to see the museum and walking tour around Cartagena. Well worth the time and money, beautiful area, great points of history.

Toulon

Took an excursion through the ship to Aix en Provence. Wish we had had more time at this port to also visit Marseille. But the tour to Aix en Provence was well worth the time and money and we had an excellent guide, with extra time on our own.
