Cabin: Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

This was my first cruise on a Royal Carribean ship. I was worried that it would be too big but it wasn’t. My friend and I shared a balcony cabin. It was great but there wasn’t much room between the two beds and this was because we had a lovely 3 seater lounge in there as well. I prefer RCI bathrooms to Princess as I hate the shower curtain. These showers are round and have fully closing plastic doors. Still tiny but functional.

We didn’t have the best cabin steward. Not much personality and a bit lax on replacing towels but our beds were made and the room was tidy everyday so we can’t really complain about that.

We bought the specialty dining package. And we ate in every possible eatery including Johnny Rockets. The only good thing about the specialty dining package was that bottled wine became 40% off. We chose not to buy the alcohol package as we wouldn’t have made use of it so that worked well. Also, if you don’t finish the wine you can have it the next night - regardless of where you dine.

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

We had twin beds. They were really close together and one was up against the balcony doors but 5ere was a great 3 seater couch. Not too many mirrors. A full length one and the dressing mirror which had the lights around it which made makeup application easy. The hairdryer was surprisingly more powerful than blowing on your hair.

They have both European and US plugs. The Europeans plug worked better with my hair dryer and straightener. We both both adaptors.

It was great that there was a kettle in the cabin. We made use of that in the mornings and late at night. There was also a little bar fridge that was big enough to Hilda’s a bottle of wine.

The bathroom was pretty standard. They use that vacuum system toilet but the showers are round with plastic push together doors. It was big enough for an overweight middle aged woman to use and it hasn’t a hand held shower head. It has a dispenser for body wash that ran out on day 2 and was nevertheless refilled but we brought our own so that wasn’t an issue.

The balcony was a great size. We had the last cabin on the floor so we only had neighbours on one side of the balcony and they never seemed to be using theirs when we were using ours so it was lovely and peaceful out there although the cabin steward never cleaned it. Again, we never asked him to either.

We were hardly in our cabin and it served its purpose well.
