We chose this cruise based on the excellent Itinerary of Japan and China. It was our son's college graduation present. So it was us two oldsters and a 26 year old. We spent a few days in Tokyo prior to the cruise, which was more enjoyable than the cruise.
Embarkation was fine. The room, Grand Suite, was fine, but a bit old-fashioned. Our butler was pleasant, but really had no recommendations as to what might be fun or interesting on the cruise. Generally, although staff were courteous, no one extended themselves in any way.
Dining was disappointing. The hot food was never, ever, not once, hot. Nothing tasted fresh, and there was little that seemed inspired, or related to, China or Japan. The restaurant service was slow and the buffets were OK.
