My wife and I were looking for a quick get away from the New England cold weather and found a last minute deal on the NCL Sky. This is our 2nd time on the Sky with our previous cruise 6 years earlier. Since the earlier cruise, the Sky is 6 years older and has implemented the free drink program, so I went with some concerns. I’m happy to report, it was a great experience!
First, I’ve read lots of reviews on it being a booze cruise. In our 4 days we encountered one young lady that was clearly over the limit. I can say with no hesitation, there were no more drunk people on this cruise than any of our other 20 cruises. As a matter of fact, there are more drunk people walking around Disney’s EPCOT these days than on a cruise ship.
As I’ve experienced on all NCL ships, they are very well maintained. Of course the Sky is starting to show it’s age especially in the staterooms, but overall she is still in very good shape. Other than the stateroom sizes and amenities, I prefer the smaller ships vs the Breakaway class.
We had an Oceanview Stateroom on Deck 8. For a 4-night cruise is was fine. It was quiet (#1 priority) and conveniently located. It has all the basics. We had an issue with the A/C the first night and it was promptly fixed.
Much of the island is blocked off for construction.
We've learned to enjoy our stops in Nassau. We get off the ship and do our own walking tour.
