We chose this cruise for the port selection, the 14 day itinerary and Celebrity's reputation. We wanted to visit as many Southern Caribbean islands as possible. We learned a lot from cruise critic but a few areas to mention. Casual dress for men is not dressy shorts and a golf shirt. As concierge class you attend a boarding luncheon, special mention for the perfectly cooked salmon steak and delicious apple pie with ice cream. We were encouraged to leave our carry-on luggage off to the side. Our rooms were not ready after the meal, so we went for a walk around the ship until we were told that the rooms were ready. We incorrectly assumed that luggage left in MDR with baggage tags would be delivered to our cabin. Yes first timers. The ship is extremely clean and beautiful. We loved the aft top deck with the grass and Sunset Bar for Sailaways or star gazing. The staff were extremely profession, yet friendly. Our MDR staff for table 271 Michael, Lousita and Anthony were outstanding. The food on the ship was amazing. We really enjoyed selecting from the MDR menu for all our dinners and a couple of breakfasts. Desserts in MDR and Oceanview Café were fabulous. We loved the variety and speed that we could select and complete our breakfasts and lunches in the Oceanview Cafe. We only went to the Sunset Grill once because the burger was cold?? Guest Relations staff were great. They helped me contact an excursion to find out if we needed a taxi and where they were located. We were also able to get small change because many places on shore wanted a $1 to use the toilets. The 5 sea days were not an issue. I loved the line dancing with Kristi, choir with Kaleb and Pasha and pool activities. My husband enjoyed the hot tub, pool and daily trivia contests with Eddy. We went to the Eclipse Theatre on the evenings when we were not exhausted from our excursions. The entertainment staff, costumes, make up was fabulous but the productions were disjointed so not over the top. Special mention for the acrobats and orchestra. The violinist was terrific. The Liars Club show with Captain Leo, Eddy and the comedian were really funny.
I enjoyed researching on tripadvisor for excursions. I booked them privately and they were all excellent. St. Martin- Caribbean Paddling [booked a tandem kayak, picnic lunch and transportation from the pier to Cul de Sac]. Antigua- Barry's Taxi and Tours [must see spots + time at Darwood Beach], St. Lucia- Soufriere Soloman's Water Taxi & Tours [speed boat to quickly get to mud baths & waterfall, 2 snorkels, local lunch and back to ship in 6 hr. Barbados- Cool Runnings catamaran and snorkel tour with lunch, Bonair- Woodwind sail, 2 snorkels at Klein Bonair and lunch, Curacao- Irie Tours "Western Beach Hopping Tour", Aruba- Trikes Aruba & Viator for Pelican Sunset catamaran tour and seafood dinner at the Pelican Nest. By the way embarkation and disembarkation was always easy throughout the 14 day cruise. The Eclipse staff work together to make everything a 10 out of 10 experience.
Our cabin had less storage space than HAL for our Alaskan cruise but our veranda offered more privacy with the partial roof and dividing plastic partitions. Our bed on HAL was more comfortable but the Eclipse room was well organized and kept extremely clean. BILAL our steward was really good working around our random comings and goings. Storage suugestions- I purchased a nylon mesh clothesline and magnet hooks from LeeValley [CDN] which made hanging up hats bags, shoebag on the wall for easy organization. I purchased from the dollar store- shoebag, small zippered bags for luggage and cloth covered collapsable cubes that worked well for socks bathing suits etc. in the over the bed storage.
