Traveled with children

We booked this cruise for an extended family trip, including one child - a three year old. Disney does a great job with kids and the staff is incredibly patient and considerate with children, including the very young ones who are prone to temper tantrums, over-stimulation, picky eating and more. The food is geared toward children - nothing too spicy or unusual. The activities are mostly aimed at children or families that include children. There were a couple of dishes I would rate as excellent. Most of the food ranged from okay to very good.

The food in the Cabanas area (buffet) was not hot when it was supposed to be hot, so we avoided it most of the time. Our three year old did not enjoy the Oceaneer Club, but older children probably would. The pirate party was hugely popular and fun, but pretty loud for little ones and some older people. In general, many activities was very loud, including the dinner entertainment. One adult activity we enjoyed during our two days at sea was the 'Anyone Can Cook" demonstration. The pools for children are great and have something for every age of kid. The adult pool is more peaceful. However, the "adult' areas are not as adult as you might think. There are kids walking through the area all the time. I saw many children walk into the adult lounges and be escorted out, to the point that it seemed children were coming in and out fairly regularly. Disney did a fabulous job during the on-boarding and off-boarding process. It was super quick and efficient - the fastest of any cruise line we have experienced. Disney's private island is beautiful and lots of fun. Our group enjoyed that stop more than any other. The shows are also excellent and enjoyable for the entire family. If you are into Disney, you will enjoy the many opportunities to meet the characters and princesses. I read a few blog posts stating that Disney cruises are "all-inclusive." They are quite the opposite. You will pay for water bottles, snacks at the theater, fruit smoothies, coffee drinks (e.g., cappuccino, espresso), wine, beer and cocktails, snacks in the Crown & Fin adult pub, breakfasts with characters, opportunities to meet the princesses, some fitness classes, etc.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

The sofa that folds down to make a bed is great. It is so easy to use and the bed is already made. The King-size bed is comfortable as is the entire stateroom.

Port Reviews

Castaway Cay

Beautiful and accessible. Lots to do. Good food. We enjoyed snorkeling and the beach

Costa Maya

Nothing for our 3 year old to do - no shore excursions for young children
