Sail Date: Feb 2018

We chose the cruise essentially for the island itinerary but were not disappointed to be sailing on Britannia again having enjoyed a Mediterranean cruise on her in 2016.

We flew with Thomas Cook on one of their new Condor planes; quietest aircraft we have ever flown on. Both outbound and inbound flights landed ahead of time which we appreciated. Transfer to the ship was smooth and swift with about a half hour dockside wait under cover to go through security etc. Our luggage arrived a couple of hours after us but we were free to enjoy the ship.

We had a port side cabin on E deck (10) which was kept spotless by our Cabin steward Ganesh. We found him to be friendly and helpful throughout the cruise. The cabin was spacious, well equipped with free safe, powerful hairdryer, toiletries and fresh bath and beach towels. The Queen size bed was about 7 feet wide and comfortable. The air conditioning works well and was easy to adjust. I would have liked a little more water pressure but it was acceptable. Our balcony, although not huge, was big enough for us to enjoy together. We enjoyed sitting out at night as well as in daylight. The ships lights on deck spoil the view of the stars but this is not so problematic from the balcony. On our last voyage we used an inside cabin which was quite a bit smaller. The balcony is worth the extra charge. We enjoyed the food as ever and the portions were generous. The waiters were always happy to bring extra food if anyone requested this and some did. Drinks service was sometimes slow in the restaurants. We used the buffet once and Meridian most other nights. Initially we had been assigned to first sitting 6:30pm at the Oriental restaurant on a table for 6 but on the advice of our Cabin Steward we requested a change with the Restaurant Manager and he agreed this.

Cabin Balcony

Brilliant! Comfortable, clean and well equipped.

Port Reviews

Barbados

Easy to negotiate with local taxi firms immediately outside the port for whatever you want to do. We went to Carlisle Beach for 5$ each way. 20$ for two sun beds and an umbrella. 15$ per person for an hour snorkeling with turtles, equipment provided.

Bonaire

Turn right on the main road and after 10-15 mins you will find plaza beach resort. For 10$ per person you have sun beds towels on beach and a drink, use of hotel pool and cabanas. Great snorkeling, best from beach but also good from floating 'jetty'. Look out for huge iguanas and green parrots.

St. Vincent

Felt threatened by the number of local young men drinking and smoking drugs hanging around in groups in port. Wouldn't go ashore again.
