Sail Date: Mar 2018

I've been on several cruises and have come to rely on Royal Caribbean for a good experience.

However, this trip has me ready to swear off of them, if not all cruises.

Unlike other trips, the daily newsletter did not include important port information, nor did the overhead announcement, regarding dangerous beach conditions. The government issued warnings that tourists and natives were to stay off beaches due to large swells and dangerous rip currents. We were swept into a rip current, losing our wallets, cash and ID. A 5-hour odyssey to get back to the ship ended with such a negative experience with Guest Relations, I would have refused to sail if I had any other options. We were told repeatedly, via scripted comments, there was no way that Royal Caribbean could have known about the conditions - a fact the port officer contradicted by noting that the line just did not request it - and that they had never issued any such condition updates (as a repeat traveler, I know this is not true). On top of that, there was no apology or concern about future travel, which was our entire point regarding future passenger safety.
