We needed a break from Houston and the aftermath of Harvey and chose the Liberty of the Seas western Caribbean cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. The cruise portion was wonderful, except for the constant bombardment regarding buying items both on the ship and ashore. Our cabin (9650) and the steward were excellent, and was the food and service in the dining room and in the specialty restaurants. The buffet was, well, a buffet. The ice show was impressive and the comedian team was hilarious. Cozumel was mostly for shopping and we did jewelry shop there, but NOT at shops affiliated with the Cruise line. The Grand Cayman shore excursion was well done and informative. The Falmouth Port was constructed by Royal Caribbean and only their ships dock there. The port is probably the only relatively safe place to go without a ship related guide. Most of what we saw in Falmouth was a slum. Ocho Rios on the other hand was much more pleasant and enjoyable. The botanical garden was impressive. I would chose Royal Caribbean again, but do more research on the shore excursions before booking them. The Falmouth excursion within Falmouth was, in my opinion, misrepresented as we really didn't see very much of the "Georgian Era architecture" that supposedly is one of the reasons the Royal Caribbean built a port there. We saw more of the slums than we did of Georgian Era buildings. Getting off the boat was smooth and easy, and we got home quickly to see our cat.

Was wonderful. Service was excellent. However, remember you are going to leave the steward on the ship and will have to make your own bed at home. The large stateroom included a big balcony with a table and two chaise lounges, sofa and chair with ottoman, walk-in closet, full bath with a TUB, and more storage than we could use. I think it was totally worth the up charge for the suite.
