Traveled with children

Our first cruise on Costa was great. We took 4 children and everyone had a great vacation. All food was included - there were no "excluded" items for extra $ such as lobster. There was all the ice cream you wanted. You could eat pretty much any time you desired. I am not a cruise snob but I have now been on 9 cruises on 6 different cruise lines both with and without children. My expectations are not unreasonable, simply based on previous experience.

Unfortunately Costa has changed and not for the better. For example, There is no "free ice cream" available. Many of the best food items you now have to pay extra for. The dishes offered were definitely not as good as on the previous trip. The buffet closes prior to ending time and runs out of food. Much of the food is the same every day. However our waiter, Joey, in the dining room was wonderful. Very attentive, trying constantly to please.

Internet/wifi costs an exorbitant fee and many at the hospitality desk are not very helpful. However, Matteo was the epitome of what an ideal customer service representative should be.

Cabin Review

Classic Ocean View

Cabin EC

Cabin was excellent value for the price. Our housekeeper, Nyugen was WONDERFUL and did everything she possibly think of to make our trip comfortable and enjoyable.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Rome is a great city to visit. We booked our our tickets to visit the Colosseum, the Vatican and Sistine Chapel, St. Peters Basilica. Walked or took the metro to Trevi fountain, Pantheon, and Spanish Steps.

Marseille

Looked at trip advisor for top ten things to do in Marseille and did them on our own.

Barcelona

Booked Segrada Familia prior to arriving. It was amazing.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

Trip advisor tells you the top items to go see. Walk, take the hop on hop off tour, or a taxi

Savona

Not much to do in this tiny town. If I had it to do over again, I would take an excursion to another town. Obviously the stop/port is so people can get on the boat - not because it is a destination
