In early March, my wife and I took a cruise from Los Angeles to the Hawaiian Islands and back. We were very surprised that that the condition of the ship was not up to Princess Cruise Lines standards. In the bathroom, we found mold and spoke to another passenger that also had mold in their bathroom. We did bring it to the attention of our room steward and he did his best to get rid of the mold. But he did not have the proper cleaning chemicals to do so - the problem never was corrected. We dined during the early traditional seating option and were very surprised how slow the service was. As well, the menu offering leaned overly so toward seafood and other Polynesian types of dishes. We also found the beef to be of inferior quality - unless we spent extra money to have a steak from the Crown Grill. On one of the tours - on the Big Island - the restroom on the motor coach was out of order. The tour started at 10:00 and did not return to the ship until 2:30. There was no snack or lunch offered and the only place to get any food was at the Mauna Loa Macadamia nut factory in which case there was only time to eat or view the factory - not both. Overall, we were very disappointed with this ship and the cruise overall. The Star Princess was built in 2002 and it seems that it was really showing its age. I would not travel on this ship again.

The cabin overall was fine with the exception of the mold issue mentioned above. Such as situation is totally unacceptable.
