This cruise, out of Tampa, is just an hour away from our home. Tampa port is a fun sail away (goes under the bridge around dusk/dinner time) so we often take this Western Caribbean cruise. We like the ports and the opportunity to see some wonderful Mayan ruins.
Key West is always fun - just a stroll down the main street is interesting. And the chocolate covered key lime pie from Kermit's is a must.
Mahogany Bay has a great beach, easily reached by the Magic Chair ($12 round trip) lift is lovely, but way too crowded if there is more than one ship in port.
Cabin service was excellent. Television and phone service could use updating.
Dining room service was wonderful (thank you Rizal, our head waiter). We also enjoyed the Pinnacle twice during the 7 days. Unfortunately there are no windows in the Pinnacle, so no window seats. However, the service and excellent food makes the visit well worth-while. We attended just one show this week - the HAL singers and dancers; it was a good show. We did not attend the shows with guest entertainers, comedians and magicians.
we walked to the original Kermit's Key Lime Pie shop for the frozen, chocolate-covered variety.
We like leaving from Tampa. It is a nice facility. Boarding and disembarking are easy,
Mayan ruins are interesting here. At the dock is great shopping and also an interesting Jade Museum in the same building. Also great local entertainment for those who need a break from shopping.
There were two other mega ships in port with us. Normally I enjoy this port, but there were way to many people here this time. I wished we had taken an excursion out to the Mayan ruins.
