My husband and I had a trans-Atlantic cruise on our bucket list. As retirees, we want to spend time checking off our traveling to do list! Except for a few unforeseen rough waters with 14' feet waves, the sailing was smooth. We loved the ship itself - outstanding cabins, service throughout the shipping, excellent wait staff and superb food. Entertaining was good most nights but didn't love all the singers. One of best parts was the lecture series -- three different lecturers spoke throughout the 8 day journey across the Atlantic: someone who worked in the White House under Clinton; someone who was a director of the Kennedy Space Center; and someone who was a professional photographer from Liverpool and followed the beatles. All three had exciting, inside stories and slide shows. The ports were new to us, except for Barcelona where we've been before, but this time toured the Picasso Museum, which was very interesting. Tenerife was not what we expected -- not a lush, tropical island, but volcanic. Malaga and Catagena were historically interesting and beautiful in their own way -- hilly, pristine streets-- charming. The last port was Corsica, but my husband was ill, so we cancelled the tour and just walked around, but thoroughly enjoyed the European feel.

We would go again on a transAtlantic if we could be assured there would be no waves!!! Another advantage is meeting very interesting people from around the world at our table for 14 nights!!

Port Reviews

Corsica (Ajaccio)

We just walked around the city on our own and were enchanted by the pristine condition of the tile streets --- shopkeepers were sweeping and washing-- the narrow streets were lined with charming shops and cafes. Very doable.
