We traveled with Viking for a family trip (all adults) and had a great time. My partner and I probably would never choose to travel by cruise ourselves, especially since we are younger than the target audience (in our 30s) and normally want to be thriftier and pack in as much localized activity as possible, exploring the local community, nightlife, restaurants, etc., but we were invited as part of a family trip and agreed to go.

We were pleasantly surprised and had a great time. The ship was gorgeous and well designed. We had a stateroom with a balcony, which had everything we needed, was extremely clean and laid out perfectly. My one and only complaint was that the bed was not very comfortable, we're used to memory foam mattresses, so we would wake up with some aches from the too firm spring mattress, but it wasn't enough to keep us up at night or anything.

Things like bus tours are not at all what we would normally choose to do when traveling, but we participated because we were there to spend time with family and one of our family members has mobility issues. However, we were very impressed, glad we took part in the tours, had a great time and every single tour guide was great. We felt we learned a lot on all of the tours and really liked all the historical details as well as insight into modern life in each city, especially in the areas of the former Soviet Union. The guides were very open, honest and able to answer questions that everyone had about life in their given areas in the past and present. The tour buses were also all very comfortable and nice. One of them even had a Nespresso machine on it, but no one tried to use it since we were on that particular bus at night.
