Who chose this cruise as it was easy for us to get to LA from Honolulu. We have already done a Ocean to Ocean transit and wanted to try this cruise. We had been on the Island Princess prior to her retro fit. We chose cabin C731, the last mini suite on the Caribe deck. We looked forward to the sea days as those are our favorite.

The cabin we chose has been reviewed as a "noisy" cabin and we found a lot of paper wedged in spots around the room. We both don't mind the noise or vibration.

We have done the northern bound ports, but hadn't been to the the 3 south stops. The night anchored in Gatun lake was wonderful. The at you only do half the locks in a day makes the lock experience so much more enjoyable. You don't have to cram in a whole day.

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MD

Nice new mini. We normally cruise in a mini and this "new" retro room was little bit different. It didn't have the semi round TV/Cabinet, but rather had 2 TVs flat mounted. What was really nice, was the curtain between the bed and the sofa bed. The toilet was at an angle and the tissue holder was in a weird spot.

Port Reviews

Huatulco

Walked around town. Had a good sea food much and swam in the ocean.

Puerto Quetzal (Antigua)

We took a ship sponsored shore excursion to Antigua. My Mother can only walk short distances so we chose this one for that reason. Bus ride up to Antigua was nice. Visited one church, then the town square. TOO many people sticking things in your face trying to sell you things.

Puntarenas (Puerto Caldera)

Shopped in port side shops. Industrial port with nothing around. Nice pool and restaurant for beers and food right alongside the ship

San Juan del Sur

Political unrest started up the day before our arrival. Very disappointed, we wanted to go to Ometepe Island.

Manzanillo

Been here before, so we just walked around town, shopped and had lunch and drinks.

Los Angeles

boarded ship in LA. We drove to port.
