We booked this cruise because of the itinerary and had low expectations of the ship after reading all the reviews. We were, therefore, pleasantly surprised to find the ship was, in the main, very well-maintained - not as glitzy as some of the newer ships but nevertheless clean and comfortable. Staff (especially our cabin steward) were all extremely helpful and friendly. We did not have a drinks (or any other package) but were never hassled to buy anything. We had thought about a drinks package but are glad we didn't take one as it worked out much better financially for us to just pay for our drinks etc. Food was good without being outstanding. We had dinner in the Main Dining Room each night usually sharing with 4-6 others. There was always a table available (we usually ate about 7.00 pm) and we loved meeting all the different people. We looked at the Specialty Restaurants but none of the food on offer inspired us to pay the extra amount.

Entertainment and guest speakers were hit and miss. Some shows in the theatre were excellent, others we just stood at the back for a few minutes and walked out. Guest speakers were the same - one was very entertaining and informative, the other two quite boring at times.

The biggest negative with Celebrity is that they don't have self-service laundries on their ships. On a 30-day cruise this was definitely a nuisance. We had some laundry and a few items of ironing done by the ship and also did some handwashing ourselves but it would be so much better if they had a laundromat.

Cabin C1

Mid-ship so no movement. Good size with adequate storage. No noise. Port-side when travelling from Aden to Port Said along Suez Canal is best as you can sit on balcony and view most of the scenery which is on that side of the ship (the other side is mostly desert).
