I had the opportunity to travel on the Britannia on May 13th on a lovely trip to Norway. I wanted to provide some comparisons of this ship and P & O in general vs. other lines that cater more to American travelers.
I am an American and no offense is meant in some of my generalizations to either American or British folk.
Ship
Cabins – No differences here in shape/size, decorated quite differently. My opinion is it was a better utilization of space. There was one North American Plug, but the rest were UK style. One thing to note is that there were several plugs instead of only one. They do have a kettle for tea or coffee in the room.
See the photos...so amazing, picturesque, stunning.
1st stop, had 1 $12 beer and a few souvenirs...cost $80. Norway is pricey. Pretty cute town.
I was surprised at what was here to do. History buffs may want to try the local maritime museum, a lovely tribute to the people who staffed the Titanic from Southampton. Great idea if it's raining!
Great food in the downtown, I think High Street, near the church monument. The ship had a delay in boarding so we dropped off our luggage and went to a local Tapas restaurant right near the ferry to the Isle of Wyde.
Big Mall, if you need to, or in a rainy day must do. I think this will lead up to the HIgh street too, but look it up.
A number of historical monuments, old town walls etc. A pretty park near the ship.
