I really enjoyed my first cruise. A highlight was seeing a family of seals on a small ice floe in front of the glaciers at the end of the bay. I also enjoyed meeting so many nice and interesting people around the table at meal times. The food was really terrific, considering the gargantuan challenge to feed 3200 guests and 1200 crew three meals a day. The cruise director and her staff were outstanding in that they were personable, funny, and seemingly always in a good mood. The games were fun. The performance entertainment was top-notch. Lou Gazzara is one of the best singers I have ever heard sing in a live performance. The magician had a less than stellar act; but he was funny at the Voice of the Ocean event on Friday, June 1. I could not afford to buy any art; but I went to every art auction because the auctioneer was so funny and informative.
Large, clean, and quiet.
It was memorial day; so the public government buildings were closed. I wanted to see the state capital and museums. The number of jewelry stores was too much. I felt pressured to buy something, which I did not.
The pristine landscapes were so beautiful and pristine. We had good weather.
We got to see a family of seals on an ice floe. Michael M. gave a wonderful commentary while we were on the deck taking in all of the scenery.
It was a beautiful sunny day. We enjoyed walking through the stores.
