We chose this cruise because of the price, because it went to the areas/ports we were interested in, and because we thought we could get the oceanview cabin configuration we desired. We got all we wanted except cabin configuration. This is explained in the cabin review below. Other than the slight glitch with the cabin, the rest of our cruise experience was great. The service was wonderful and the staff was friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. The Waterfront Restaurant was excellent, The food was always well presented and tasty. The Plantation Bistro (buffet) food was a slight step down from the restaurant, but nothing to complain about. The entertainment was enjoyable, but sometimes on the loud side.

CMV is a British company that caters to the British market. On this cruise there were mostly British passengers with a few Germans, Asians, Americans, and a smattering of other nationalities. As Americans, we felt very comfortable and welcomed. We enjoyed getting to know new British friends.

While CMV mostly runs adult-only cruises, this particualr cruise allowed children. They were all extremely well behaved.

Cabin Review

Cabin Standard Plus Twin

For oceanview cabins, all of the CMV printed and online materials show the same configuration with a double bed (what would be called queen size in the U.S.) against a side wall and away from the window. Our cabin had the head of the bed aginst the window. I don't like to have to kneel on the bed to look out the window. We had requested the configuration shown in the photos and had even been told in advance that the cabin configuration could be changed after embarkation. However, because of the fixed placement of side tables and a dressing table, that was not possible. It probably didn't matter much because the windows were not clean. We heard the previous cruise had experienced rough seas so it is understandable the windows were not clean. The company probably does not have time to clean windows during a one-day turnaround. At any rate, our cabin was aft on deck 8, a few steps from a back deck if we wanted to be on deck taking pictures. Having said all that, the cabin was roomy enough, although not spacious. The bed was very comfortable. Some parts of the ship seemed very warm and humid at times, but the cabin air conditioning worked great. The bathroom was small and dated, but served its function. There was plenty of storage room, both hanging storage and drawers.

Port Reviews

Eidfjord

Enjoyable ride up the canyon to Voringfossen. Stopped at the nature center on the way back, but very little time to enjoy the exhibits.
