We have cruised over 30 times, mostly with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity, so we have a pretty good feel for what's a good cruise and what's not. We are in our late fifty-early sixties. This was the first time on a Norwegian boat and we were a little apprehensive. I've not heard much about Norwegian other than the open dining style. Our travel agent was the one who recommended the boat. This trip we traveled with friends about the same age, but we have also traveled with kids. I'll give my opinion from what i would look for at all ages groups. First off, food was excellent. Whether you were in the multiple restaurants or up in the buffet it was all good. One word of advise, book the specialty restaurants first day on board if you plan to go. They go fast! Unlike other ships we've been on. But the Taste and Savor were just fine. These you didn't have to book and we never encountered a long wait to get in. We had the dinner package and took full advantage of it though, so four of the seven nights we ate at a specialty resturant. Every place we went the service and food was excellent. And we never felt rushed! We also had the premium drink package. Ours came with our room package so it was cheap. But just be warned they do charge extra for top shelf drinks. It didn't affect me, as i drink martinis and wine, but my husband likes scotch and he ran into extra charges a few times. Not a big deal, but some thought so. Entertainment was excellent!! It was some of the best we have seen at sea!!! The Million Dollar Quartet is superb. I saw many other reviews saying it was great - but wow! it is great!. Burn the Floor was some of the best physical dancing I've seen. Beat out anything on the big Royal Caribbean boats! Cirque Dreams was very good. Word of advice floor seating is not worth the extra dollars. Everyone had an equally good view of the show. My opinion this isn't a boat for little kids. The pool area is small and the big slide is for tweens and up. Our room was by the "daycare" area and it always seemed busy and the kids seemed happy, so there is that. just not much else on the boat catered to small kids. Which is nice for adults. We didn't see many children even though we went at a time school was out. Bars - there are lots of them. We don't do the night life, so i can't speak to late nights, but the drinks were always good and there never seemed to be a time when we had to wait long for service. O'Sheenan's is always busy, but they do a good job moving the traffic. Not a lot of shopping on board either - again, not something we go for. Spa is wonderful! however you do have to pay extra for it and it's a little expensive. Well worth it if you plan to spend time there. Lots of chairs in there and the pool is big. The sauna are nice as well. I didn't like that the gym doesn't have lockers available for when you work out, unless you have purchased into the spa. Overall one of the best experiences we've had cruising. At the end of the cruise they do a future cruise session. Go if you can. very interesting and they offer some amazing specials on future cruises. We'll definitely cruise again on a Norwegian big boat.

Cabin Review

Family Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin M4

We were lucky and got a cabin upgrade, from a balcony to a mini suite. It was nice, bigger bathroom with a tub but other than that looked exactly like the balcony room. I'm not sure it would have been worth the extra dollars. The rooms are fine, very much like any other ship. They could use a little more storage space. There aren't any drawers to stash stuff. The balcony is small. I've seen other reviews with the same comment and agree. Smaller than other ships. But you can still sit out and enjoy. The room stewards are very busy. So don't expect them to be as quick to get your room cleaned. We had a few days where it took most the day before it got cleaned. Not sure what that is about. We expected a little more, especially with a mini suite. They were very friendly though. Our room was right behind Splash Activity. where they keep the kids during the day. I was a little apprehensive about the location, but we never heard anything from the kids. The walls in the room as a little thin. You can hear your neighbor talk some of the time and you can hear their TV. It wasn't horrible, maybe we just had some loud neighbors.

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

Barrier Reef Snorkel - good excursion. The snorkeling wasn't that good because of rain earlier in the week. But the water was great, and i can imagine on a good day the snorkeling would be awesome. I'd try this one again, but check the weather patterns before i booked.
