We chose to spend two days in Budapest before joining the Viking River Cruise. Great decision as it was a wonderful city to explore on our own. Viking employees met us at the airport and took us to our hotel; there were representatives at the hotel. It was seamless.
This is the best trip we have ever taken. It was very relaxing and low key but we also walked around 15,000 steps a day on average exploring; our choice. We signed up for every excursion that did not require an additional charge and were not disappointed. The tour guides were a wealth of information for the history of the city they representated as well as recommending great coffee shops and restaurants.
It was wonderful to be able to look out on our balcony every morning and see the countryside instead of a sea of water.

Veranda Stateroom
I'm not certain of the category but we had a small balcony large enough for two chairs. The rooms looked small in the picture but it was well laid out with plenty of drawer, closet and counter space. We did not feel cramped. We unpacked and put our suitcases under the bed.
